Is this really mandatory?
Yes. Defra's Digital Waste Tracking service goes live for waste receiving sites on 1 October 2026, and that includes tyre recyclers, collectors with permitted sites, retreaders and processors. Paper transfer notes stop being enough. Running under a T8 exemption instead of a permit? These rules don't apply to you yet, and we'll say so rather than sell you something you don't need. We count tyres, we don't weigh every van.
